I initially got an M1 13" MBP, but returned it and got an ASUS because the price was too extreme for 1TB/16GB SSD/RAM and Apple's PWM displays give me migraines. I got a new desktop, and the laptop was replaced within like 2 months. Projects that I did on the desktop would be problematic on the laptop, as I was no longer accustomed to working within the confines of the laptop's spec package. Once I got a new Desktop machine, that laptop instantly felt slow and it only got worse. Unless you actually experience something better, the performance is normalized to you, as you don't have a basis for comparison. I think in most cases people just get accustomed to producing within the limits of those spec packages. The Specs in that Gaming Laptop are better than a Late 2017 15" MBP that cost ~$2,800. I can't even imagine producing comfortably on a 2012-13 MBP. I have a Gaming Laptop here with an i7-7700HQ, 32GB DDR4-2400 RAM, and 512 NVMe (System/Apps) + 1TB SATA3 SSD and it became painful to produce on.
